On May 3, 1915, after the Battle of Ypres, Lt. Col. John McCrae, M.D. wrote "In Flanders Fields." The poem's universal appeal to the power of perseverance, the passage of time, the beauty of the human condition, and remembrance of the fallen has inspired generations to show their respect by donning a poppy pin, a moving allusion to the poem, in memory.

Founded in the poem's centennial year, the In Flanders Fields Fund hopes to keep the poem's message alive through education and inclusion while delivering on its directive to continue making the world a better place.
